Excavated US Cavalry Saber & Scabbard

This US model 1860 cavalry saber and scabbard portion is in fair condition. The saber and scabbard will not separate as the saber is solidly lodged inside the scabbard. The brass guard and pommel have aged into a very pleasing green patina and are solidly affixed to the iron blade tang. Both upper and lower scabbard rings are attached. It is not known how much of the blade remains inside the scabbard. Unfortunately, I do not have very much information on this piece as to where, when, and who recovered this relic, but it is still a very unique item that would make a great conversation piece. Its overall length is 28 inches. This cavalry saber and scabbard will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War cavalry or general relic collection.
