Item: Gallager Carbine Cartridge
Caliber: .50
Construction: Brass
Condition: Excavated, good condition. The bullet itself has a grey-white patina with moderate surface pitting. The brass cartridge casing has a brown patina with a slightly darker area running the length of one side. There are several freeze cracks in the brass case however, they do not affect the cartridge's structural integrity. The cartridge is in overall solid condition, with no dents, holes, breaks, or repairs.
Comments: This Gallager carbine cartridge is not a "put-together" and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet, cartridge, or general relic collection.
Recovered: Strawberry Plains, TN.
Approximate size: .50 inch diameter x 2.03 inch length.
Reference: Thomas' RBTR Part Two, p. 59.
