Item: Confederate Nesler Pattern Bullet for .69 Caliber Smoothbore Musket
Condition: Excellent, excavated, un-fired. Grey surface patina. Visible mold seam. No repairs.
Recovered: December 6, 1997 Gettysburg, PA area.
Approximate size: .661-inch diameter, .614-inch length, 447 grains weight.

Comments: According to the above-mentioned reference book, "Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Four", by Dean Thomas, "Nesler moulds were ordered locally in Raleigh from the firm of Voss & Smethurst, and bullets and cartridges were fabricated by the North Carolina Institute for the Deaf & Dumb and the Blind." This bullet will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
