Item: .69 Caliber "Raleigh" Pattern Bullet (aka. Garibaldi)
Condition: Good, excavated, unfired. The bullet's surface has a waxy tan patina and a visible mold seam. Skirt is bent. No repairs.
Recovered: Gettysburg, PA area.
Approximate size: Diameter varies due to bent skirt (.65-.70-Inch), 1.12-inch length, 552 grains weight.

Comments: These bullets were manufactured in .54, .58, & 69 caliber. According to the above-mentioned reference book, "Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Four", by Dean Thomas, these bullets were "made at the N.C. Institute for the Deaf & Dumb and the Blind". This bullet will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
