Item: US Army Pre-Civil War "Great Coat" Button, ca. 1820

Construction: Flat, one-piece.
Approximate size: 21 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. This very solid button has a dark brown patina with no bends, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown
Comments: The button shows "U*S" surmounted by an eagle grasping arrows with left talons and a wreath below. This button will be an excellent addition to any excavated pre-Civil War button or general relic collection.
