Item: Civilian Type Rosette Portion
Construction: Sheet brass with iron back.
Approximate size: 1-3/4 inch diameter.
Condition: Fair, excavated, attachment device missing. Brass front has a brown patina and may have been silver washed at some point. Approximately 1/3 of the device is missing. There are no repairs.
Recovered: Harrison's Landing, VA.

Comments: It was acquired directly from the late Gene Cooley many years ago. Gene was local Virginia legend who relic hunted primarily east of Richmond since the 1960s. Click on his name above to read more about Gene and his story. This fine rosette will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War cavalry or general relic collection.
Additional information: Harrison's Landing, was the site of General George McClellan's encampment during the summer of 1862 after the battle of Malvern Hill, the last of the Seven Days Battles.
