This excavated Burnside carbine combination gun tool is in good condition and was recovered from the area of Harrison's Landing, VA along the James River where General George McClellan camped during the summer of 1862 after the battle of Malvern Hill. It is constructed of iron which has been cleaned, treated with electrolysis, and very lightly clear coated. The device is fixed in place and will not rotate. It measures approximately 3 3/4 inches in length and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War weapon, campsite, or general relic collection.
