Comments: This button was in use by the Centennial Guard during the Centennial International Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876. The Centennial International Exposition was the first official World's Fair to be held in the United States. 500 men were appointed as guards for the exposition and this button is likely from one of the coats supplied to them. Read more about these men by clicking the above link. This Centennial Guard coat button will be an excellent addition to any excavated general relic collection.
