Item: Confederate Colt Navy Pistol Bullet
Caliber: .36
Condition: Very good. This pistol bullet has a waxy tan-white patina and is a near perfect example. There is minor surface chipping primarily visible with a good light and magnifier. What are most interesting are the casting flaws (irregular lines and divot) on the body of the bullet.
Recovered: Manassas, VA area.
Approximate size: .388 x .602 inches.
Reference: Thomas' RBTR Part Four, Page 172, #14
Comments: The remarks in the above mentioned reference book state this bullet is a "Richmond Laboratory, 3rd pattern ball." A scan of this page is included in the additional images. This example will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
