This original Confederate fifty cent note is in good condition, is dated February 17, 1864, and was printed by "Archer & Halpin" of Richmond, VA. The note is hand numbered and was issued with a side view of Jefferson Davis. Printed on the note is "Richmond / Feb. 17th..1864 / The Confederate States of America / Will pay FIFTY CENTS to bearer. / Two Years after the Ratification of a Treaty of Peace between the Confederate States and United States / ENGRAVED BY ARCHER AND HALPIN, RICHMOND, VA.''. It is machined numbered "98415". The rear is blank. The paper is crisp with partial borders. There is a small corner edge tear and fold along with several pinholes visible if held up to a good light. This handsome note will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection. Ref. Criswell T-72.
