This original Confederate fifty dollar note is in good condition. It shows a contemporary portrait of President Jefferson Davis and was printed by the firm of "Keatinge & Ball. Columbia, S.C.". It has a machine serial number in black of "52792". It is dated February 17, 1864 and hand signed by the register, Miss Isabel De Leon, and treasurer, Miss Maria Selden. The note was printed on fine quality bank note paper which is still crisp and with good coloring. Printed on the note is "The Confederate States of America / Will pay to the bearer on demand FIFTY DOLLARS / Richmond, Feb.y 17th..1864. "The back is blue with a large "FIFTY" and four circular medallions with the numeral "50" at the corners. There is minor edge wear in various areas and minor overall discoloration. There are two very tiny pinholes visible if held up to a good light. It will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection. Ref. Criswell T-66.
