Comments: These basic waist belt buckles were the work horse for Confederate troops and this particular example was acquired directly from the digger's family. The digger hunted Civil War trails, campsites, and battle sites throughout central Virginia and adjacent states for several decades. Included in the additional images of this relic is an image of the digger's index card indicating, in most cases, the relic's identification, assessment of condition, recovery date & location, and other general information. An image of this index card will be included along with the description and image of the buckle. NOTE: This particular card also refers to another waist belt buckle he recovered "within 2' of (A-19)" which is also listed for sale as PC9180. In cases where there are discrepancies between the digger's description and Virginia Relic's description, Virginia Relic's description shall be deemed correct. This frame buckle will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
