Backmark: "E.M.L & C. RICHMOND. VA." rmdc
Design: Raised Roman letter "I" on a plain field.
Construction: Medium convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present, solid button. Copper patina under a green residue. There is a front push near the rim at the 7 o'clock position. Minor nicks are found in the rim and in the area of the push. No repairs.

Comments: These Richmond back marked buttons are among my favorites and this example will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
