Item: Excavatedring portion (or half) of a two-piece Confederate knapsack buckle.
Construction: Cast brass.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, and complete with tang. Its brass has an overall dusty brown-green patina. It has no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.
Comments: These Confederate knapsack buckles were manufactured by S. Isaacs Campbell & Company, London and it is this company that supplied numerous articles of war to the Confederacy. Also offered on this website is an example of the hook portion that will nicely complement the ring portion offered in this listing as their patinas nicely match and both are in excellent condition. This CS knapsack buckle will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
