This excavated hook portion of a two-piece Confederate knapsack buckle is in excellent condition and was recovered Fredericksburg, VA. These sturdy brass buckles were produced by S. Isaacs Campbell & Company, London and it is this company that supplied numerous articles of war to the Confederacy. Also offered on this website is an example of the ring portion that will nicely complement the hook portion offered in this listing as their patinas nicely match and both are in excellent condition. This buckle, constructed of brass, has a brown-green patina with no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War buckle or general relic collection. The buckle's approximate overall length and width measures 37 x 40 mm.
