Item: Confederate Nesler pattern bullet for .69 caliber smoothbore musket.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. This near perfect bullet has a dirty-grey patina and a very visible mold seam.
Recovered: Virginia
Approximate size: .67 inch. diameter x .59 inch. length
Reference: M&M: 66, Thomas RBTR4: 588
Comments: According to Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Four, by Dean Thomas, page 238, item 588, these bullets were "fabricated at the N.C. Institute for the Deaf & Dumb and the Blind". This bullet will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet display.
