Item: Confederate Infantry Kepi Button - "Script I"

Design: Lined old English "I" on a plain field.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 13 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. Solid button with a brown patina. While the backmark is believed to be present, it is difficult to see. No pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Seven Days Battles area.

Comments: Script infantry kepi buttons are rarely recovered, and I cannot remember the last time I was able to offer one. The button was acquired directly from the Virginia digger, and it will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
