This cast brass excavated Confederate cavalry spur is the type with a horizontal rowel and strap studs. It is unmarked and its surface has a very pleasing overall dusty green patina. Though a very well-made solid and heavy spur, a portion of its round neck is missing as well as its iron rowel. It measures approximately 3-3/4 inches wide (stud to stud) and 4-3/4 inches long. It was acquired directly from a local Virginia digger who recovered it from a Fluvanna County, VA farm. No cracks or repairs.
