This excavated spur, constructed of iron, was acquired directly from a local Virginia digger who recovered it from Charles City County, VA. The raw surface exhibits both iron rust build-up and degradation and, while sturdy, there is flaking. A portion of the horizontal or "raking rowel" is still present on a rectangular neck, and one of the strap studs is missing. It measures approximately 3-3/4 inches wide and 5-1/2 inches long. No repairs.

The spur offered in this listing will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War spur, cavalry, or general relic collection.
