This original Confederate twenty dollar note is in fair condition, is dated February 17, 1864, and printed by "Keatinge & Ball. Columbia, S.C.". The note is hand numbered and was issued showing the Tennessee state capitol in the middle. Confederate Vice-President Alexander Stephens is pictured in the lower right hand corner. Printed on the note is "THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA / Will pay TWENTY DOLLARS to the bearer on demand. / Richmond, February 17th..1864". The rear, shows a large "TWENTY" with four circular medallions with the numeral "20" at the corners on blue ink. The note is crisp but does have areas of discoloration, creasing, incomplete borders, pin-holes, edge wear, and corner folds. This note will come in a sturdy clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection. Ref. Criswell T-67.
