These excavated cuff links are in very good condition and were recovered at a Civil War Federal base supply camp in Charles City County, VA. They are linked together and appear to be constructed of brass which has aged into a very pleasing dusty green patina. The ornate etched design on the front is difficult to discern but may be an animal in stride. Take a close look at the enlarged images and perhaps you can determine what it is. They measure approximately 3/8 x 5/8 inches. This relic was acquired directly from the family of the now deceased digger who hunted Civil War trails, campsites, and battle sites throughout central Virginia for several decades. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War campsite or general relic collection.
