Drummer's Drum Stick Carriage

SOLD

This non-excavated 1851 regulation drummer's drum stick carriage is a product of drum manufacturers, and brothers Frederick and Conrad Soistmann located in Philadelphia, PA during the Civil War. Constructed of rolled sheet brass, two cast brass tubes "turned off" on a lathe secured with rivets, and continuous iron wire strap hooks. The carriage is in very good condition and has an overall darkened brass patina. The two tubes are solidly attached and in good shape. The rear has a large letter "S" stamped into one corner representing "Soistmann". The wire belt attachment hooks are no longer present. At some point two holes were made in the support plate possibly for display purposes. The rear support plate measures approximately 77 x 90 mm. See an image of the carriage use in the additional images.
