This excavated eagle plate is in excellent condition and its brass front, showing an eagle clutching an olive branch in its left talons and arrows in its right, has aged into a very pleasing brown patina. Its rear has both iron, but rusty, belt attachment loops and a complete complement of solder showing only minimal surface flaking. This plate has no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection. Approx. 63 mm.
