Item: Excavated US eagle plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill.
Condition: Fair. Its detailed brass front has a very pleasing green patina with two rust-bumps opposite where the rear iron loops would have been. The rim has some minor breaks and the rear solder is mostly complete with some overall surface flaking and pebbling. The two iron attachment loops are no longer present. There are no repairs or major bends.
Recovered: Catlett, VA
Approximate diameter: 64 mm.
Comments: This eagle plate will display quite well in any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
