Item: Federal 2.9 Inch Parrott Half Shell
Construction: Cast iron.
Fuzing: Zinc adaptor for paper time fuze.
Sabot: Brass ring (not present).
Condition: Good, excavated, inactive. The exterior has minimal surface pitting and build-up and the interior surface, once filled with gunpowder, is mostly smooth. The entire half-shell is in its raw "as dug" state. While the threaded zinc fuze adaptor portion is present, the brass sabot portion is missing. There are no repairs.
Approximate size: Weight: 3.8 pounds. Diameter: 2.87 inches. Length: 8-5/8 inches.
Recovered: Cold Harbor, VA area.
Comments: This Parrott half shell will be a fine educational display piece as well as excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery, battlefield, or general relic collection.
