Design: Raised spread wing eagle with letter "A" in shield.
Construction: High convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. The button has a dark brown patina. There is a moderate push to the rear. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Amelia County, VA.
Reference: Tice: AY215A Albert: AY 78,79
Comments: This large Federal artillery overcoat button was acquired directly from the family of the local Virginia digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
