Item: Federal Artillery Coat Button
Backmark: "SCOVILL MFG. / WATERBUR. (sic)" rmdc
Design: Front shows a raised letter "A" in the center shield and a spread wing eagle clutching arrows in its left talons and an olive branch in its right talons.
Construction: High convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 19 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. This button has a very pleasing brown patina with some underlying gilt. There are no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Charles City County, VA.

Comments: This Federal artillery coat button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
