Design: Raised spread wing eagle with letter "A" in shield.
Construction: High convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. The front of this button is covered with gilt. There are no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: New Kent County, VA.
Reference: Tice: AY215A78 Albert: AY 78,79
Comments: This large Federal artillery overcoat button was acquired directly from the digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
