Item: Federal Infantry Button
Backmark: ".SCOVILLS. / WATERBURY" dm with radiant lines.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 19 mm.
Condition: Excellent, non-excavated, secure shank present. This very beautiful and solid button has aged into a very pleasing mellow brown-brass patina. It has no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.

Comments: According to "American Button Makers and Dealers; Their Backmarks and Dates" by William F. McGuinn and Bruce S. Bazelon, page 111, the ".SCOVILLS. / WATERBURY" dm with radiant lines backmark is also found on Albert's DR-3A but with a copper back. This button will be an excellent addition to any Civil War button or general relic collection.
