Description: The device shows a symmetrical eagle, with upraised wings and block letter "I" in a shield.
Construction: High convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 20 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, shank present with slight movement. This button, with its brown patina, still has tan colored soil remaining highlighting the eagle and shield with letter "I". There are no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Wilderness, VA area.

Comments: This very handsome Federal infantry button was acquired directly from the digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
