Description: The device shows a symmetrical eagle, with upraised wings and block letter "I" in a shield.
Construction: High convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 16 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Its slightly loose shank is present, but secure, with a tiny bit of material still lodged in and around the eye. A solid button with a brown patina which is loaded with gilt. It has no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Wilderness, VA area.

Comments: This very handsome Federal infantry button was acquired directly from the digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
