Five Very Unique and Interesting "Pulled" Bullets

SOLD

These five excavated .58 caliber three-ring bullets are not just your average ordinary American Civil War bullets. Each one of these bullets is a misfire and each one had to be extracted or "pulled" from the gun barrel using a screw, double corkscrew type or other device attached to the end of a ramrod. As a result of this extraction process, typically a small hole or circular grooves are left in and around the bullet's tip. What makes this group particularly interesting are the unusual features such as the hole depth and diameter, multiple holes, thread depths, etc...  Another interesting aspect about extracted or pulled bullets is the fact that they were handled not once, but twice by the soldier. Often in the heat of battle the muskets simply misfired and the process to extract the bullet would begin. With bullets whizzing by, the extraction process must have seemed an eternity. This group was excavated in central Virginia by various relic hunters and the bullets pictured are the exact bullets you will receive. An example of various types of bullet pullers and extraction tools can be found in "Civil War Artifacts" by Howard Crouch on pages 98 & 99. Scans of both pages can be found in the additional images of these five pulled bullets. This group will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet, battlefield, or general relic collection.
