Item: Flat Cuff Button - Eagle with Anchor in Shield Backmark
Backmark: Raised eagle with an anchor within a shield on a lined field all surrounded with a ring of dots.
Construction: Flat, one-piece.
Approximate size: 13 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. Smooth even brown patina. This very solid flat button has no cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown
Comments: It is uncertain as to when these flat buttons were in use however, in my limited research it is believed to be prior to the Civil War. This button will be best displayed with the shank side facing up and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
