Item: Gallager Carbine Cartridge by Thomas Poultney
Caliber: .50
Construction: Paper and brass foil cartridge.
Condition: Very good, non-excavated. The bullet has a grey patina and is smooth with a strong mold seam. The case is complete with an undamaged paper wrap and does not appear to have any dents, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Approximate size: .512 inch diameter and 2.08 inch length.
Reference: Thomas' RBTR Part Two, p. 113 sp. 432.
Comments: Poultney's (Crispin/straight seam) Patent #40,988 / December 15, 1863 / Paper & Foil. This cartridge will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War cartridge, bullet, or general relic collection.
