Item: Georgia State Seal Cuff Button
Backmark: "W. G. MINTZER, / PHILD,," dm
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 15 mm.
Condition: Good, excavated, no shank. Gilt remains nicely highlighting the three classical pillars and arch with rays. At some point after its recovery, the eye portion of its shank either broke off or was intentionally removed. No pushes, cracks, or repairs.
Recovered: Fredericksburg, VA area.

Comments: This Georgia cuff button would nicely complement another Georgia state seal coat size button with similar gilt coverage.  It will be an excellent display piece to add to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
