This excavated plain horse bridle rosette is in very good condition and was recovered in Culpeper, VA. Its brass front has a very nice woodsy brown patina and its rear has a near complete complement of solder along with its brass attachment bar. An example of this type of rosette can be found in Howard Crouch's relic reference book "Civil War Artifacts" on page 134, item #8. Crouch notes that this rosette is "a simple design often found in CS cavalry camps." This rosette will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War cavalry or general relic collection.
