Parrott Fuze Anvil Cap

This anvil cap is constructed of zinc and was for use in a type II and type III Parrott percussion fuze. The anvil caps were threaded into the very top portion of the fuze and were struck by the fuze nipple, creating a spark, which would detonate the powder chamber. Though this anvil cap has not been completely cleaned, it appears that the threads which are visible are in good shape. Approximate diameter at threads is .72 inches and the head is .87 inches. This zinc anvil cap will be an excellent addition to add to any Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
