This large excavated single blade jackknife, with its approximate 5-1/4 inch long handle and its approximate 4-1/4 inch blade, would measure about 9-1/2 inches overall when opened. Most pocket knives I see recovered from Civil War campsites are significantly smaller. It is in fair overall condition. It appears to have been clear coated long ago so as to prevent further deterioration. Its blade is fixed in place and clearly visible.

This large jackknife, with display case included, will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War edged weapon, campsite, battlefield, or general relic collection.
