Lefaucheux 9 mm Pinfire Revolver

This Lefaucheux 9 mm pin-fire revolver has a 5 inch barrel and a fold down trigger. It is all complete including the rod type shell ejector. The markings on the barrel, cylinder and frame are deep and clearly stamped. The fancy walnut grip is checkered and is raised carved where it meets the metal frame. The cylinder has a smooth dark patina and the barrel and frame have a brighter mottled finish. The action is mechanically perfect and the bore is deep and shows no sign of pitting. There is a hole through the lower wood grips for attachment of a lanyard. This mid-19th century French design firearm was imported into America, both North and South, for private purchase during and just before the Civil War. They are said to have been favored by many Confederate officers, including Stonewall Jackson. There are no replaced parts and the overall NRA condition would be considered very good. This revolver will be an excellent addition to any Civil War firearm or general Civil War artifact collection.
