This pattern 1853 Enfield lock plate is in good condition and was excavated in the area of Harrison's Landing, VA along the James River where General George McClellan camped during the summer of 1862 after the battle of Malvern Hill. This lock has been cleaned and lightly clear coated as a protective measure. The iron is stable and is ready for display. This Enfield gun lock will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War firearm, campsite, or general relic collection.
