Item: Excavated Louisiana State Seal Coat Button
Backmark: "* SCOVILL, MF'G, CO * / WATERBURY" dm
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 22 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. This face of this beautiful button is covered with gilt. The backmark is nearly gone from ground action. There are no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Manassas, VA.
Reference: Tice: LA203A1 Albert: LA 2
Comments: This Louisiana coat button is an absolute beauty and was acquired directly from the digger who dug this button and several others in the late 1970's. Read the story of these finds. The button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
