This large non-descript brass belt buckle was acquired directly from the digger who recovered it in Albemarle County, VA. It is constructed of brass with a long iron tang and is in very good condition. The brass has a rich green patina and its iron tang, while complete, is frozen in place. The buckle measures approximately 49 x 73 mm. It has no cracks, breaks, bends or repairs. This example will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War buckle, plate or general relic collection.
