Item: Mobile Volunteer Corps Cuff Button
Backmark: Believed to be "SCOVILL MF'G CO. *** "
Design: An eagle on a plain field with down-swept wings with initials "M. V. C. above".
Construction: Convex, two-piece
Approximate size: 15 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. Brown patina. The front of this solid button is worn, and the back mark is very difficult to see. No pushes, cracks, breaks or repairs.
Recovered: From an old home site in the Scottsville area of Albemarle County, VA. Scottsville was part of "Sheridan's Raid" in March of 1865.

Comments: This cuff button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
