SOLD

This Museum of the Confederacy commemorative plate and its original box are in excellent condition. Measuring approximately 10-3/4 inches in diameter, its gold rim nicely highlights the border design and Great Seal. The plate was issued in 1971 as a limited edition on behalf of the restoration of the White House of the Confederacy and the construction of the new Museum of the Confederacy, Richmond, Virginia. The front of the plate shows the Great Seal of the Confederacy. The rear lists the Trustees of the White House of the Confederacy as: Co-chairmen: Bruce Catton and Virginius Dabney and other trustees: Mrs Dwight D. Eisenhower, Mills E. Godwin, Jr., Governor Linwood Holton, Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson, Archie K. Davis, Governor Ronald Reagan, U.S. Senator John C. Stennis. In the center is a smaller version of the Great Seal of the Confederacy. Below is "Limited edition series issued 1971 A.D. on behalf of the restoration of the White House of the Confederacy and the construction of the New Museum of the Confederacy, Richmond, Virginia." Below this is: "Oxford Bone China made by Lenox USA". In purple ink is "FINAL(?) / INSPECTOR / NO. 30". This fine commemorative plate will be an excellent addition to any wall of an office, dining room, den or general relic collection.
