Musket Barrel Section with Bayonet

SOLD

This muzzle end of an excavated .58 caliber musket barrel with partial bayonet were both recovered in the area of Gordonsville, VA. It was acquired directly from the family of a longtime local Virginia relic digger. It is unknown if they were recovered together, however they were attached when they were acquired by Virginia Relics. The partial barrel, which includes its sight, measures approximately 11-1/4 inches. The condition of the barrel break leads me to believe that a significant rapid force caused it. The bayonet fits snugly on the barrel at the muzzle. It is missing its locking ring and approximately 5-1/2 inches of the blade tip. Both barrel and bayonet are in good solid stable condition and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War firearm or general relic collection.
