This excavated musket lock with hammer was recovered from Mine Run, VA. It is constructed of iron which is now stable. Its hammer is frozen in the cocked position as found. It measures approximately 5-3/8 inches in length and is 3-1/8 inches in height. Some of the lock's mechanism parts on the rear side are visible such as its mainspring and bridle. The lock is part of a small display that includes a .58 caliber three-ring bullet, two percussion caps and an old, typed label that states: "GUN LOCK / Found Battle of Mine Run", all of which will all be included. The four relics are imbedded in a 4 x 5-1/8 x 1 inch section of Styrofoam. The label is pinned to the foam surface. This musket lock display will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War firearm or general relic collection.
