Item: North Carolina State Seal Coat Button - High Quality
Backmark: Blank channel.
Design: According to "Uniform Buttons of the United States 1776-1865" by Warren K. Tice, “The North Carolina seal and coat of arms depict the female figures of "Liberty" and "Plenty". The former holds a liberty pole with her right hand and a scroll inscribed "CONSTITUTION" with her left. "Plenty" grasps a cornucopia in her left hand and wheat with her right."
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. Very pleasing brown-green patina with strong "NORTH CAROLINA" and state seal details. There are no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Spotsylvania County, VA area.
