Item: North Carolina "Sunburst" Coat Button - Non-Excavated - High Quality
Backmark: Blank
Design: An eight-pointed raised star or "sunburst" on a finely stippled gilded field with border. The star's prime point is down, or in the six o'clock position. The raised letters "NC" are in the center on a horizontally-lined background within a raised ring. The rear shows "spin" marks indicating that they were shaped on a lathe. The shank was securely brazed on.
Construction: Low convex, one-piece.
Approximate size: 22 mm.
Condition: Excellent, non-excavated, shank present. An absolutely beautiful button. The raised "NC" in the lined center, surrounding rays, and stippled background are all distinct. The button has no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.
