Bugle Mouthpiece

SOLD

This excavated bugle mouthpiece is in very good condition and has a very pleasing dusty brown-green patina. It was acquired directly from the digger who recovered it in Charles City County, VA. It measures 2-3/8 inches in length and is 1 inch in diameter at the mouth. Its tube is still filled with soil and its small end is damaged leaving a jagged edge. This difficult to recover relic will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War campsite, battlefield, or general relic collection.

Examples of similar brass curb chains are found in the following relic reference books:

  • "Civil War Artifacts" by Howard Crouch on page 37, item 3.
  • "Excavated Artifacts from Battlefields and Campsites of The Civil War" by Stanley S. Phillips on page 185, item 5.
  • "Relics of the Coastal Empire: The Civil War Years" by the CEHHA, page 210.
