Item: Parrott Time Fuze Adaptor
Construction: Zinc.
Use: To support a paper time fuze and to form a tight seal. The two spanner holes, visible on the top of the adaptor and to either side of the center hole, accommodated a wrench used to screw the device into the shell. Once the adaptor was in place, a paper time fuze, would be inserted into the center hole.
Approximate size: Length: 1.66 inches. Diameter: 1.12 inches. 12 threads per inch.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Light soil coated grey surface patina. Most of the threads appear to be in good condition with light-moderate soil concretion. There is a small hole on the bottom which is likely a casting flaw. There are no cracks or repairs.
Recovered: A Virginia recovery.

Comments: This Parrott time fuse adaptor was acquired directly from the digger's family. The digger hunted Civil War trails, campsites, and battle sites throughout central Virginia and adjacent states for several decades. This fine relic will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery, battlefield, or general relic collection.
